I would add a tiny bottle (miniature) of booze - vodka / whisky / whatever you've got - it's handy for everything from toothache to insect bites to "nerves" to cleaning your tweezers!

Today I had a mini meltdown at the fact all my crops are rotting because of the rubbish weather; panicked some more that the house is still a work in progress and I'm not on track with my plans to improve storage and security before the winter; stressed myself out about the lack of corn in the US......

Frufru I agree with Itsy - you MUST store what you eat! If you won't eat tinned veg then what would you eat - tinned soup? that would be a reasonable alternative for a veg portion, or stock up on dehydrated veg, pulses and stock cubes to make your own. Thanks guys. No, I wouldn't buy dented ones either, but I get my shopping delivered and every so often they come a bit dented. How long do you think the food would be ok for after the tin getting dented? (if not used straight away?) I appear to have quite a few. Ugh, frustrating! Teapot - move them...

We've started renovating the house to a layout that works better for storage / emergency situations. However, to do this, a lot of wall moving and complete ripping out of the original (semi-det) cottage and the extension has to go on - so ...one wall down, two more to go...... 'will keep you posted...
