Yes, good little radios for the price, i have two UV5RC's.
Be mindful that they are only 2M & 70CM's on FM, but you can also program in PMR 446 and they also work on marine freqs too, as i live near the river i also listen in on the VTS too.

There is loads of stuff on there to be used as a training aid to help you out.

As for the practicles, you will be helped through them as the trainers do not want you to fail either.

My call sign is not published in the RSGB yearbook as i asked not to be.

Even on my QRZ page it only has my first name and my area of location.

Talking to various parts of America last night at the radio shack using only 100 Watts of power, giving them a very good signal, considering they are using 1000 Watts and up. Not bad eh :D

You could try using an (once you have eaten it) upturned half of a grapefruit, not sure why it works, it just does, my Mum used this trick in her garden. Slugs and snails do not like anything sharp on their foot, you could also use sharp stones and broken egg shells, it hurts them and they will not ...

What is the dry weight of the units? In other words how much does all the plastic etc weigh.
