!!Getting Out!!

Post by QUAID »

Don't know about you folks, but i'm not hanging around. . . I'm getting out and going to my alternate location. I'm not waiting for any 21 day incubation period.... call me paranoid, but better to act 1 month too early than 1 hour too late.

Will leave on Monday 13th Oct 14.
My question is.. is anyone considering going to an alternate location prior to any potential mass Ebola outbreak or widespread resource shortage / panic?
and what preparations has anyone made to this specific threat?

Good luck!

We haven't the option of another location :(

I was wondering what your trigger point was that made you decide to up sticks and leave? I have a pandemic plan based on H5N1 and i haven't even changed the lightbulb to yellow yet (Dwarfers might chuckle at this reference).

As a prelude to winter, I have been stocking up but this is routine for me at this time of year. What have you noticed that we maybe haven't?

Thanks,

Hobo

The best case scenario is you're wasting your preps and time, the worst is it comes here and spreads and you are stuck bugged out for life :? not a bug out scenario really.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I guess it all depends on your usual location and the benefits/ramifications of moving to your (I guess remote) location.

This is just my take on the current situation:

Whilst the current state of affairs with Ebola is quite worrying especially taking into consideration the long incubation period and international travel meaning three quarters of the worlds population could potentially be infected within a matter of days........... it is not airbourn so such an extreme pandemic is unlikely.

Ebola is spread much like HIV/AIDS the latter stages of Ebola is when infection is most likely to be transferred to another person, so avoid other peoples bodily fluids ;)

Usually Ebola has a mortality rate of 90% but this outbreak appears to have a mortality rate of 60% (some reports make claims of people recovering), this outbreak started months ago and has only recently come to light to the majority of the western world.

There have been predictions of Ebola cases happening in the UK avoid swapping bodily fluids with others and chances are you'll be ok.

I don't have a BOL but I will be keeping an eye on the news (all news) and am prepared to batton down the hatches.
If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.

I wont be bugging out anyway but I dont get any "feelings" as yet that this is much bigger than it is.

Its very hard to judge when media bigs every thing up the way it does. I dont watch TV or read the papers but even I am fed up to the back teeth of the scaremongering they are doing. Just like they did with bird flu and the others.

So I watch the prepper sites and wait for those who I know are more knowledgeable and sensible than the majority. I will take my cue from those.

I've seen people online comparing ebola to the bubonic plague, because of the death rate varying between 50% and 90%. And it is, of course, in one way - minimum 50% of people who catch it die. Fact. With the bubonic plague, the variety that swept across Europe in the 15th century, a third to a half of the whole population died. Thats very different.

I *am* stocking up, which I do at this time of year anyway, as I catch ordinary viruses at the drop of a hat. And I don't have a bug out location, but wouldn't be going at this stage even if I did, to be honest.

As to what I'm doing specifically this year thats different - not much, really, though I *am* taking note of some of the immune strengthening tips at americanpreppersnetwork. And I've put a routine in place to take my vitamin pills, which all too often sit unnoticed  :? in the drawer.

Quaid, if you feel you should go, will you be able to keep an eye on the news and whats happening? Will your current property be looked after at all? How long might you go for? What would tell you its okay to come back? Of course, only share what you feel comfortable sharing. Best of luck with it all.

Arzosah,
Please pass on any immune strengthening tips! Thanks!
I've started both my boys on Sambucol again. We skipped it last year because we though we just couldn't afford it. Both boys ended up with a series of bad colds whereas previous years they'd been cold-free :(
We're all on vitamin C supplements and I've upped everyone's portions of veg.

Have a look at this vidio! Watch it all. Why would they need to do this, if they have many cases?

About immune strengthening.
Year before last I had a few incurable autoimmune diseases. I went onto a Keto diet and cut out all grain and processed food.
Those incurable autoimmune diseases are now no more. I am very healthy now my joints are no longer stiff and un-bendable I no longer suffer fatigue or depression.

I think the cutting out grain was the thing that built up my immune disease. Plus I take very high Vit D. Ketosis was what stopped my fatigue and depression.

My diet is the perfect preppers diet. I can go far on very little.

I am with Hobo on this. There is no alternative location for us. We have to interact with each other to make a living of course. " No man is an island" springs to mind.
I am just having a coffee before taking the dog for a run. I have done something this morning I do not normally do. Went with the Duchess to our nearest Asda on a retail park. You know what? It was absolutely heaving with folks, all in cars. It struck me that if we were to have somewhere to run, we would never get there because of all the traffic. *If* there is a pandemic(whatever it may be) *I* truly believe a lockdown will be the way to go.
Of course, had I the luxury of a well stocked retreat, and no need to earn a wage, then it would be an option.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.
