I'll get the ball rolling with a copy/paste from my updated document. Let's have suggestions too. Here's mine:
Berghaus 18L rucksack
Torch (LED lenser - bright) + spare batteries.
Mini Maglight (attached to keys)
Red Bull Shot - BB: 9/9/11
Nature Valley bar - BB: 5/11/11
Sports bar - BB: 27/6/11
Energy bar - BBE: 6/11
A-Z of London
Map of UK roads
Hand sanitizer gel
Hand warmers x 2
Lighter + matches
Compass/thermometer
Monocular - 10x25
P-38 can opener
Spork
Tablets + plasters
550 Paracord - 15’
Emergency mylar blankets x 2
Keffiyeh
Carabiner (screwgate, large)
This generally tweaked every few weeks or so. I'll soon be removing the hand warmers for example, and adding water.

Re: Post your EDC!
Why a thermometer?
i keep a small lightweight softie sleeping bag in mine, a wind up radio, few cyalumes, cash/change, a knife? folding or fixed blade?
My EDC, is generally kept in my car... cause if i'm out and about my car is usually not to far away! And i know having a knife is dodgey, but may be a necessity

Re: Post your EDC!
As I don't currently go very far from home (due to being made redundant..boohoo!) my EDC is limited.
However, on me at all times is my paracord survival bracelet, credit card multi tool, and keychain torch as well as every day items like keys, wallet, phone, watch etc.
I expect this will change when I get my next job depending on location..

Re: Post your EDC!
I don't carry one as such, as I'm never that far away from home. I do carry spare contact lenses, a bottle of water and the usual - purse, mobile phone etc.
If I lived and worked in the Smoke, however, I would have a full kit. Not in a ruck sack though, probably a nice Mulberry tote or something...

Button compass

2 x 20ps
Micro crow bar

Sticky labels/post it's
Credit card
2 x water purification tablets

If I'm going further I add to it as needs be.

I have a problem visualising this: how bigs the tin and your pocket?

I haven't got one ! (an EDC, not a pocket)
Re: Post your EDC!
Bournemouth Prepper - The thermometer is on the other side of my compass. It's actually handy for when I'm in a hot or cold environment, I can think to myself 'Blimey, it's that hot/cold'....
But I think if you're commuting long-distance to/from cities each day, then you need some sort of kit. Mapping is a must, also long-life food and water, meds and a torch as a minimum carry.
It all depends on how much you're willing to carry. My EDC doesn't actually weigh that much. I would STRONGLY recommend a rucksack though. If SHTF and you have to walk home or any distance, your back is going to take the weight better than your arms or shoulder.

And this is my hill wandering kit. It lives in a Maxpedition EDC Pocket Organiser. It's small enough to fit in most coat pockets, or cargo pants I believe, and limit carry to a reasonable amount. It's also big enough to carry a useful amount.

You might have noticed the whistle on orange cord on one of the zip pulls. Inside, we have a useful array of elastic straps, with a sleeve pocket on each side and a key snap for one's keys.
On the left, I have a very small binocular that I've had for years. For its size, 6x 18mm, it has a remarkably clear image. Also, in the sleeve pocket, are a Moleskine notepad and a bunch of zip ties in different sizes. The four larger ones are releasable.
On the right is a medical kit in the sleeve, a Jetbeam Mk.II-X LED flashlight, SAK Huntsman, Uni Jetstream pen (I want another space pen really) and my Altoids tin.

In the medical kit are the usual sorts of things, plasters, blister plasters, 2 feet of gaffer tape wrapped on a card, 1 foot of surgical tape on a smaller card, 1.5" glass lens etc.
The Altoids tin has a couple of spare lithium cells, compass, and my fire kit: Bic, cotton wool+vaseline, tinder cube, candle, bit of inner tube and ferro rod.

The Victorinox Huntsman has what I think is a good selection of tools for hill wandering, without being too bulky (or needing a 'good reason' to carry).
