Post by The-Mendologist »

Just sharing this with you guys and gals.

Ordered some of these the other day, from china.

From the well known auction site. item no 351152569716

Thought they may come in handy. Obviously not for climbing.

Have you any idea what maximum load those can take? I know they are no good for climbing / shock loading etc. But if they can take a decent continuous load they could have all sorts of uses.

To be honest i have no clue as to their load bearing value.

But, for the price paid i thought they were cheap, you might as well get yourself some and test them out.

Not exactly a survival use but I use similar ones for holding the handles of my shopping bags together in the boot of the car, stops the shopping falling out and going walkabout in the boot.
I also use one for clipping my walking pole to my pack if I need my hands free.
The ones I've not are not very strong, I'd be guessing and say about 50lb static load? I would test one but I'm running out of the things as people keep borrowing them... Theiy are just so handy.

The threaded part is a bit crap, but they will be ok for what im using them for.

Will do an autopsy and post some pics.
