Fair enough, I've got a different version myself, couldn't tell you who does it, I've had it a while but its OK, not great but as long as you keep an eye on it to stop it burning. Its better than no toast, not being confrontational but if you have a better 'toaster' post it up so the OP can maybe get the benefit, they're pretty cheap and cheerful and maybe able to help her in her situation.Yorkshire Andy wrote:katilea wrote:that toaster is cool but I wonder how it browns them evenly??
I'm still looking for a lantern that is battery but warm white like a yellow glow rather than the blue type as I find it difficult to see with them.
I think someone mentioned those big cheap touch lights (type you can stick on a wall) anyone know if the light is warm white? ..and whether they're battery or need wiring?
Thanks
I have the toaster above and its errr NAFF beyond belief

No worries Deeps i have only one stove which will make toast with the 4 sided jobbie and its a fast boil use a shed load of gas for overly dry toast and got that hot the reflected heat melted the knob which stuck to and burnt my finger... much better cheaper way is the old fork through the bread and wave it over the flame especially if you have an open fire going nowt tastes better
sorry if i came across a big aggressive or confrontational ive camped since i was a kid and took it on the DofE i did as a teenager cursed and swore at it then and in my logical mind I decided to take it with me away this summer with mrs andy and the kids thinking it would make toasting quicker when i ended up doing toast for 4 on a fork over the gas ring after 5 minutes of "it must work better on a decent camp kitchen gas ring" no it sadly didnt and it wound up in the campsite bin in a sulk ... the single slice version works much better IME and only need the gas to be on low but the mesh once heated becomes a bit fragile and prone to rust and holes.. ... i did post a url to the type above i have its this sort

ok now the big freeze is supposedly moving to October!!
http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/60 ... now-freeze
though we're also meant to be getting a tropical Storm heavy winds and rain
http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/6 ... 1436071525
then there's El Nino and 6 months of violent storms!..who knows WHAT to prepare for these days!!!
http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/59 ... 1436071525
I have a food shop booked for Wed so I best make it a BIG shop!!!! ..and get that camping lantern and gas cooker thing sorted as apparently there's going to be a fuel and food shortage as the country is locked down with snow affecting transport!!
Do they actually get paid to predict these things??? or only get paid if they're right??? ..lol!
Maybe I should get one of those treadmills that work under your own steam (rather than electric in case of powercuts) they tend to be much cheaper and smaller but would a dog be able to make it move?

Andy I've just seen this (and there's too many quotes to quote your post), no you weren't being confrontational mate, I was aware that I was asking you to show a 'better' one and the silliness of it for a camping toaster for a couple of quid. If I gave you the impresson that I was getting nippy about it, I'm sorry, not my intent at all. You're right, they're not the best and we don't use ours too often, its just as easy to use rolls than faff about with the toaster.

I think its the Michal Fish syndrome and the storm of 87 he was talking about hurricanes in America and we get hit by a big storm and everyone moans that he did not predict it. So now they just make it out to be worse than it is so that when we have normal British weather we can't moan at them. We normally have our bad weather in January with the odd bout in December and rare bad weather earlier like the weather in 2010/2011 But we are getting near the end of September now and down south we are still in T shirts(even me and I'm a chilly mortal) So I wouldn't worry until it turns colder

Don't read the weather reports in the express, they are extreme to say the least. They keep promising Armageddon and failing to deliver!

I've recently bought a" marksman" single ring camping burner from Amazon, for under £9. Adding 4 cannisters of gas brought the price up to £15 which i thought was a good deal.
