I have one of the Coleman white gas/petrol stoves but don't like it. Fiddly, inclined to flare and burnt through the expensive white gas very fast leading to a need to unexpectedly purchase more.

I quite like Pop-can stoves.... The 'well-burner' ones work really well with a wide pot, weigh nearly nothing and don't use a lot of meths (or the bio-ethanol that I prefer to use). Oh, and nothing is cheaper then free :D

In your OP you said you wanted a small, light stove. Has this changed? This stove weighs 6kg, ie 6,000g. That is not light, if you mean for carrying long distances. It's more than 12 times heavier than the stated weight of my steel rocket stove, which should be 460g. I can weigh it if you want. Pretty sure it's around that. I consider 460g too heavy for a BOB for one person. 460g is about the weight of the multifuel stoves used by high level mountaineers.

In my BOB is a gas stove, gas and 1.1 litre titanium pot. The three items in total weigh about 450g. I also have a chain to hang it over an open fire - this weighs 73g.

My mini Trangia is 350g. This includes decent sized pot, frying pan, meths burner, windshield and handle. This is not in my BOB. I'm not a big fan of meths, but lots of people do like them.

The folding titanium twig stove in my INCH bag is 105g.

I'm exploring options so I'm not beholden to anything in particular at this point. When I said light, I didn't necessarily mean something ultra light, I just meant nothing that wasn't huge, but it's not something that needs to go in a bug out bag and would be used for camping purposes and as a back up in case of power outages.

Right. I know little about these types, just seen pics of them. 6kg is light as in not hard to pick up.

I bought a 12" diameter stainless steel tray to use under my rocket and twig stoves in a bug in scenario. It was cheaper when I got mine https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009BQ4UE6/
