Slightly mouldy bread has been used as a wound pack for thousands of years because of the penicillium mod that grows on it. I’d use it in a post SHTF but any mould that isn’t grey/green, utterly do not use.
Far better to use standard first aid stuff, become trained in herbal medicine. Ointments/balms /cider vinegar live in the fridge/ cool pantry for years. Tinctures can be made with vodka which keeps for ages. Same with infused honeys. Beeswax and olive oil can be made into balms etc. The primary ingredients all have a really long shelf life but the end products could only last a few weeks.

Yeah, moldy bread has its history, but let’s be real, it’s not the best option unless you’re totally screwed. Stick to proper first aid or learn herbal medicine if you want something reliable.Mad Scientist wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 11:00 pm Slightly mouldy bread has been used as a wound pack for thousands of years because of the penicillium mod that grows on it. Tinctures with vodka, infused honey, and beeswax balms are way better options. They last long if you make them right and store them well

Timely reminder to go through my prescribed meds.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
