Storing Cans in piping

Typical , can't find the link now.
I saw something today were somebody stored cans in a plastic pipe (the type you used for your guttering ). Has anybody tried this method.

I seen something like this for rotating tinned food, you screw a length of drain pipe vertical to the wall of your stores, cut a slot out of the bottom of the pipe to get the tins out and just fill it up with tins.

I Saw something similar, Good points are that tins can be stacked higher due to being more steady

The only problem i can see with it, is dropping the first few tins in it

I still don't see the point, for general storage/rotation. Pipes are taking up more space and rotation is easily dealt with, without the need of a pipe....

Hello

It may be that they are stored in plastic pipe to offer extra protection from knocks, water etc.

Shot in the dark but thats the only benifits I could see.
