Not 100% sure what a EDC is? But my prep for getting home in an emergency is to have a map of current location, Water for 24hrs, Large energy bar (ie Go bar) good pair of boots, wind breaker and some get out of jail money. Then move fast and use what ever means are at my disposal to get to a safe area! ie my safe house..... Some great posts here with some squared away kit, but i think simple is best in this kind of situation.

My basic EDC is in a small rucksack, and includes
Bike pump
Puncture repair kit
Travel towel
Bike lights/torches
PowerMonkey explorer with solar charger
Sharpies
GPS
Compass
Spare AA and AAA batteries
Water bottle
First aid kit with puri tabs
Swiss army knife
Gloves
I know this isn't a comprehensive kit,but that's what mg Bug Out Bag is for. This EDC is just to get me home if things go wrong.

Yes everyday carry bag!.... i get it now  maybe i have overlooked this part of my prepping, i would just keep my said items in the boot of my car, but surly a GHB makes having a EDC redundent? or am i just missing the point?

Hi Prepper7. I know what you mean about an EDC and GHB essentially being the same thing. However it really depends on your personal situation. For example as an EDC i have my wallet, with various cards and cash in it. My car keys, house keys together with an explorer swiss army knife and a mini maglight, not forgeting my Nokia N8 which has a wicked GPS/satnav built in so hugely useful.. They go everywhere with me regardless of what im doing, it isnt out of place whether im at work or at a wedding.

However my GHB is a lot more comprehensive, but again only for my usual daily situations. As an example im a health worker, I work in a few buildings within 15 miles of each other. Im never more than 30 meters from my vehicle and on the ground floor in easy reach of a fire escape or window. So in case of emergency I can easily get to my vehicle and either drive home or the items in my bag allow me to walk and survive for few days just in case. So if your GHB is in your car and your a fair distance from it, or several floors up. You should carry different things depending on your situation.

Got ya Spindift, EDC are items like phone, keys, wallet, and small items like torch, penknife etc.... that can fit into your pocket or small handbag, bumb bag or what ever you use.

I'm rarely 'without vehicle' and generally keep bits in there, but this is effectively my BOB.

I actually meant EDC not BOB. I also carry my earphones for my phone, which act as a radio aerial.

OK, so christmas has come and gone and with the addition of anything else my kids have got me for my birthday (30th dec), i've started my full on EDC.

Image

Thought i'd have a go of one of these, i know there are mixed feelings about them, but they are very good quality.
Image
this is what is in it at the minute, bare in mind its a work in progress, ive read everyone elses and have started to look at all the stuff i normally carry in my pockets and in my work bag every time i walk out of the door.

From right to left....
First aid pack.
Alcohol hand gel.
£land head torch.
wind up pebble torch.
15' 550 para cord (purple and yellow, nice)
VX2R radio and antenna.
My normal keys with LED light and small multi tool.
Backup thermal gloves.
Snood type scarf/hat/mask.
Foil emergency blanket.
Swiss folding cup.
Pack of tissues.
Glasses screwdriver set (3 different sizes in handle)
Playing cards.
SAS survival guide(pocket size)
Tin 1.
4 colour biro.
vaseline.
stainless steel heavy duty watch size clock.
Clip on cap LED torch.
£5 change.
Tin 2.
The bottom row is what i always have in my pockets....
Card wallet, change pouch, headphones, lipsill, clipper and a self made parachord braclet.

Image
i had started the tins first, basic stuff for a tin i recon and two fit nice in the end pocket.
Image
tin two extra stuff and batteries for torches.
Image
the contents of the first aid pack.

I thought it would be good to do this and get some input from you guys and gals, as not only have i realised that i sort of always did this anyway, but i had it all spread between trouser pockets coat pockets and the varios bags i take to work, i also have 5l of water in the car or van always and extra coats, hats and gloves and waterproofs, i also always wear a hat of some sort.

My only worry now is that its all in one place and if i loose my bag i only have left what is in my pockets?

Looking back i remember carrying a mini Puma sports bag, about the same size, i was following the bus my girlfriend was on (i was on my motorbike) she had my bag, she got off the bus without my bag and i lost everything!

All my eggs in one basket? Not sure this is the way to go now? :?
