thanks :)
trying to get friends to think about this seems to be a very tough thing. they all think im "crazy".

are there any good pages i should look at about fortifying doors and windows?
my bathroom has a plastic roof so id have to rule that out as part of the secure part of the flat.

any tips would e great :)

as for things like dried foods, how long after the dates on dried soups, pastas and rices can these still be eaten?

sorry if i sound like a complete fool.

Hi welcome to the mad house we all get the your crazy talk/ look  As for sercurity it depends on how much you have got to spend, cheap version window locks and a suden intrest in growing cacti on the window sill expensive version those rather nice window bars. The plastic roof is a new one on me so can't help you on that one sorry

hi, thanks for the welcome.
with the security i already have a burglar alarm. i was thinking of buying ply sheet and attaching it to my doors, and getting some 4*4 fence posts and making a barricade with them.
the roof in my bathroom is a worry

Hello and welcome to the forum from a South Devon member :)
There are many threads on here that cover security and ways not to look "flash/showy' so someone wants to rob you.
Try the search box, they are well worth a read.:)
Personally we store things in different places, some hidden some not. In the hope the whole lot won't go if there was a break in.
