Any chance you could recommend a book or some article on this please? My Indian garden is not going to be dug, but I'd like some pointers for a more conventional garden for the usual suspects like brassicas, roots and onions.

Hello Brambles, I use Permaculture & Forest Garden books and websites myself.

....and for more traditional growing (if you have limited space) I have had good results with the Square Foot Gardening book.
