I've been bimbling around Costo - picked up various items on my "wanted" list.
Spotted some great shelving - metal framed, highly adjustable shelf heights, 6' high x 4' wide x 18" deep.
Decided I'd benefit from a storage reorganisation so grabbed 3 sets - approx £50 a set including the VAT.
What Preps are you doing this week
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Purchased a three tier sprouted to make the process of sprouting seeds and lentils much easier and to take up less work surface space.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Received my sprouter in the mail and am practicing using it. I think the trick is to make sure there is only one layer of seeds or less per tray.
Also set going my first vegan walnut probiotic cheese. If I can make this work I will probably be able to use all kinds of nuts and seeds and that is another way of keeping me healthy and full.
Is that really a "prep"? Depends on how you see it. As I am off dairy, sure its a prep! Also I bought the honey that I am using to feed the bacteria from two streets away and thus it has helped me get known among the community of people who are interested in "stuff". It is the husband of a lady from Church who keeps bees, collects and packs the honey. Also they have a great dinky label that they have made for the jars too making them look really professional.
Nuts can last when stored properly so if I can make milk, yogurt and cheese with it when normally you cant get those things, then that's great.
Also am dehydrating some banana in the westfalia cheapo dehydrator for later. And today I had a wonderful green lunch from the garden.

Well I have been building up my stock of wood - and losing weight thanks to the heat!
I have picked up a new mora knife, some first aid stuff, a wood burner and a spotting scope for my shooting.
Plus my eldest boy has just gone on a weeks bushcraft camp and I am teaching him archery when he gets back.

Just got a shedload of AA batteries for 20p a pack from Tescos as they came in in error - 25 packs of 4 for a fiver of Energisers! Wahoo! Must be Christmas....
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
And the money you saved on that deal could then be used to buy an Alkaline battery recharger online for around a tenner, making them an even better buy.arnie72 wrote:Just got a shedload of AA batteries for 20p a pack from Tescos as they came in in error - 25 packs of 4 for a fiver of Energisers! ain't settlin'
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Cheers for that Piglet but I have a couple of those already for normal use - these batteries are more backups in case the SHTF and I can't recharge my batteries.
I know 100 batteries isn't many but it is certainly better than none!

Nick, I've been offline for ages (computer virus, holiday, blah) and this is fascinating - nuts are a big part of my regular protein intake, as I'm veggie. Do you have any links for how to make that sort of cheese please?nickdutch wrote:... set going my first vegan walnut probiotic cheese. Preps ... successfully growing my own chilis ... my fruit bushes and new fruit trees survived my week away, even in this heat ... I've made an alcohol stove, and am halfway through a rocket stove, both made from old tin cans ... I'm working on soil improvements and planting whats still sitting there in pots.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
got my medium utility pouches finally to organise my very full SHTF bag and ordered 2 Yo Yo automatic fishing reels which should be awsome additions.
