Picked nearly all the runner beans ,last of the peas.
Looking around the allotment.i came to the conclusion it's too far too travel, and with a baby on the way next spring,(unplanned pregancy) I'm going to hand in my 2 months notice,
I'm going to relocate the shed & chickens at home and put raised beds in back garden.easier to potter around in and if it gets dodgy be harder to steal my hard grown produce.

Waaay back, when my youngest was born (God was a lad then! ) I made exactly the same decision as you. You will be amazed at what you can do in a small space.
Good luck with your imminent extension to your family. Family is the reason for everything.

Harvested apples from our tree and from a client of OH. That haul also included some pears. All to be juiced over the next week (possibly some cider). Approx 6 overfull, cardboard fruit boxes.

Went for a walk and collected blackberries, sloes, rose hips and more pears. Off again tomorrow as saw a loaded crab apple tree, will get some more pears, sloes and rose hips. Have some knowledge of an 'orchard' on Wildlife Trust land so will have a mooch.

All chutneys and relish completed. Will probably make some hedgerow jam, blackberry and apple jam etc.

Looking forward to the time when this is all done and we can enjoy the fruit of our labours!

moocher, congratulations from me too! Lovely news - and I'm sure you're right, you'll need every moment.

Pseudonym - how on earth do you keep it all so tidy? Are you going to put some fruit bushes in, or do you have a mini-football team to consider? Sorry to take the thread OT, its just really interesting when somebody's obviously worked really hard on the fabric of the garden ... I'm watching Strictly, and a bit ooh-lah-lah at the moment :)

I've noticed that blackberries seem to be either later each autumn or last longer,
Thanks jansman and arzosah .
