Permanent Marker (half sized Sharpie)
LED Light
Leatherman Style
Handcuff Key

All fitted to one keyring and I usually carry it around and about with my keys.

I've always got keys, charged phone, cash etc anyway so its just a few extras to help out.
Cutting, combustion, cordage, container, cover.

I should add, I always have a pen on me and I like to keep a £100 or so in the back of my wallet. There's usually plenty bits of scrap paper in there as well.

Cotton wool balls ares perfect for firestarting, they take a flame really well, especially when combined with some petroleum jelly (vaseline)

I carry a Fresnel magnifier great for reading small print on food packets etc also you are suppose to be able to start fire using the sun? Think would have to be a very hot day! ebay under a quid.

Also large needle and thread - for exploding zipper incidents removing splinters, popping blisters unclogging windscreen washer jets on car etc

Button compass - good if you've just emerged to street level from tube station gives rough direction.

Mini Bic

Cash notes in waterproof pill tube - coins for parking meters.

Length of ducktape wrapped mini biro pen from betting shop or argos/screw fit if you prefer.

Finally the most useful is a AAA thrunite torch
