Exactly right, they have been known to melt. Make yourself one out of some thin aluminium sheet.

Ahh thanks for the pic, could possibly adapt it to molle looking for a black molle pouch to attach to my sack.

This looks a lot better than the plastic ones, I imagine it boiles quicker than having a plastic lid! Bloody expensive but I guess it's worth it :)
