I have tried several times to make a hobo burner out of different drinks cans and fail each time. The main problem is getting the top over the bottom, even after crimping. The top half always splits........ :cry: If anybody has a spare ;) I will keep trying and will no doubt crack the process.

Hobbit: You said you're crimping one half in, are you also swaging the other half out with another can?
How are you cutting them? As nicks in the edge makes weak points

Thats what i was getting to and that the "hobo" bit is really the cage, it could just be a can with a hole in the side to feed sticks.

these are known as meths burners or pop can stoves.

but yeah, crimping the bottom is only half of it, using the bottom of another same size can the widen the top half really helps.
