The Galvanised Bucket is the ONLY bucket for cleaning ashes from the stove, as often they are still hot. Plastic melts, you see.

I checked the dates on the food and water in my car and bob, replacing the stuff that was getting near its sell by date. I'll now consume them as part of my monthly shop.

I am super excited as i joined a gym yesterday as i believe fitness is part of my prepping survival. also i am joining an archery club tomorrow can't wait. I bought a fire starter and a pack of water purifing tablets this week and i have been looking at rucksacks as bug out bags as i may need to trek than drive.

I have my non food supplies in a cardboard box in the spare room upstairs, i will be converting them to a plastic box this week sometime.

My neighbor is having a new kitchen. I now have all their old units to equip my double garage out with storage. Major sort out of generations of wood working tools, gardening stuff etc on the cards I can see. Also I can start moving food stuff into the garage. Any advice/links re boxes for storing foods in would be greatly appreciated please
In an ideal world I will also list which box/cupboard everything has gone into and make sure I can remember how to use all the tools!!!!!!!!!!

In 40 mins or so I have a firewood delivery coming. That'll be for next year. Then I have to dig a load of Jerusalem Artichokes for a local restaurant that specialises in seasonal foods( nice little earner). Then I will start looking for paid work, as my new employer of 2weeks is rapidly going down the pan! I worked 20 years for the last one, so this is surreal.

I just thank heavens that I plotted and schemed and got resources at the back of us over the years. :D

Good luck with the job search jansman, I have been very lucky I never had a single day out of work plus I was able to retire at 60 on full pension, it must be a very worrying time, I hope all goes well for you and yours.

Good luck jansman - having done my accounts for last year, I just added up my income for the current tax year ... not good, I really need to get the 2nd income going :(

Galvanised bucket - I was thinking about laundry if ts ever did really htf, so to speak :) a galvanised bucket has a rigid structure, and it has that mop bit that means I can wring clothes more easily - its the equivalent of a really labour saving device if you have arthritis in your hands!

Thanks for the good wishes folks. We will be ok, I am sure of it. Just took cash for the artichokes, and the eggs are going great. The stove is lit, and the house is cosy. The restaurant I supplied today use a butcher who is looking for a good man on the knife. I am seeing them Saturday. Good Karma! :D
We engineered our situation,as we knew my old boss was retiring. The last five years of that job we worked to pay the house off. Boy, that plan is paying off time and again!

As Jan keeps telling me-it's an adventure!
