Iv Found a preppers food store. New dude N.E uk

Hi all, new to this prepping lark although iv always had an interest and a belief in being ready! For want I'm not sure?
Today in work I was clearing out an old guys belonging who has recently departed this world, and come across his food stores, dried food (noodles, rice...) And the largest collection of tinned food iv ever seen rivalling a small super market. (Beans,soup,fish,fruit,pies etc...) All the tins in plastic storage boxes with clip on lids. Some storage boxes in the garden shed but most inside.
The thing I'm thinking is how long is food good for in tins? I have it in my head that it's good forever or there Abouts? But any of you guys got experience with this?

Hi, iv been on here a couple of weeks but not got around to introducing myself and thought the find today was a chance to! It wasn't my intention to skip searching for answers to questions that have already been answered-sorry!
As for interests- anything from surfing, mountain biking, camping, hiking and spending too much time messing with my classic jeep. I like all sorts of things really.
