Mini Hydro Electric Charger

Post by Haggis2013 »

I found this little charger unit which uses a running tap or river to charge up its internal battery. It is only at the kickstarter stage just now.

During the Bosnian war enterprising Sarajavans floated washing machines on pontoons and lashed them to various bridges that cross the Miljacka river. The machines had been modified by attaching paddles to the drums. As the river flowed it turned the paddles which turned the drum which turned the motor and generated electricity.

Not sure how much energy you can get from such a set up but I was still impressed by their ingenuity.

This looks like a fantastic little gadget.. I'm going to 'donate' the $24 for the prototype.. will let you all know how it goes..

I think if its adaptable would be great in an 'inline' plumbing situation.. with constant running water./..

Edit:
Had more of a look into this... going to get

First to test and see if I can get enough power to run some LED lights simply by running water from a stream through the system.. would be ideal for a BO location or bunker :tinfoil
