Re: Suggest an EDC watch
Another thing with the solar G-Shock: if you have all the bells and whistles (specifically the "backlight comes on when you turn your wrist to look at the watch", they can suffer from SAD in the winter when covered by a cuff for much of the day. Agree with that, I switch the auto backligh...

Re: Suggest an EDC watch
I did buy a basic Traser military last year and really liked the simplicity of it , but found the tritium illumination not very good in low light situations (a urban setting) now my eyesight is not brilliant and I reckon the illumination would be fine in the very dark/pitch black , I just found that...

Re: Suggest an EDC watch
I use a Casio G-Shock. It's solar powered, gets the time automatically from the international time signal, and has countdown, alarm and stopwatch, as well as other features that are more or less useful. The backlight button is separate and easy to operate. Sure, it's toast if the particular fecal m...
Re: Rucksack
A colleague suggested the 5.11 Ignitor 16 Backpack, which I had a look at yesterday and concluded that it is not worth £140! Thank you. I dont know that model but just thought I would say that my 5.11 Rush 24 has been fantastic in the 4/5 years I have owned it, so can vouch for the quality and dura...

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the Russian space programs "urban myth" solution to the pen problem....

Re: Bulk Buy Toilet Rolls
Hi, Not sure what section to put this post. I was going to bulk buy some toilet rolls. you can buy them in various quantities and the greater the amount obviously the cheaper per roll. Has anyone tried these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144-TOILET-ROLLS-2-PLY-2PLY-200-SHEET-TISSUE-LUXURY-QUILTED-PAPE...

Re: Suggest an EDC Pen
I've got the Bullet Space Pen and it's dead nice. But it's really too expensive and the lid always annoyingly falls off. Re: Suggest an EDC Pen
Appreciate the response Tanstaafl, I'll check them out. I was happy enough using the cheapy Parker's but just grudged losing 1 or 2 a year. I saw the True utility jobbies as very much for emergency use and I'll probably get one plus extra refills at some point. No probs You do get 3 refills with th...

Re: Rugged mobile phones
For outdoors stuff I use a Nokia 101 with dual sims (one UK sim, the other with a Irish sim, so it can roam and I can always call and text). If it's raining I normally stick it in a carrier bag in my pocket, but I do have a throat mic for it, as it was dirt cheap on eBay. The mic works well even on...
