Re: Sandbags
Sharp sand is ok to use but buying from BQ is twice the price of a builder's merchant
Hessian bags much better than plastic as they "bond together" better
I'd store the hessian bags dry for as long as possible to preserve them as they're expensive but not compared to being flooded!

Re: Heavy Duty Metal Garden Cart With Mesh Sides
Even with wheels 400 kg takes some shifting, especially if there is the slightest of inclines. We have a four wheel ( pneumatic tyres) flat bed truck for unloading wagons at work. There is an incline to the fridges, and any more than 250 kg takes one pulling and one pushing ( and we are strong lads...

Re: Heavy Duty Metal Garden Cart With Mesh Sides
Thank you.
I need one to move "stuff" around the garden which is very long! I'm ok with a wheel barrow but I can see huge advantage in something such as this. And 400kg potential is excellent.

The beauty of my location is that its managed flood plain so unless it's dire the drainage board have it covered. That said having 3 tonne of sand on the drive was a comfort this last week. Plenty of rubble sacks in stock should it have become necessary to act. I am considering buying hessian sack t...

Re: Sometimes
Milk freezes well. You could buy a "6 pinter" and freeze into smaller bottles for times like these. Just leave an air gap for expansion

Re: rats and chickens
When my neighbour finally decided to clear out her chicken runs that had been neglected for a couple of years we were rat infested for a couple of weeks. They came in 3 waves. So desperate for food that they were out during the day. I used £60.00 of poison, shot 40+ and trapped 18. I think the rest ...

Re: chickens.... help
Chicken poo is an excellent compost activator for the compost heap. But straight onto the ground it can burn the roots of plants
