Re: HOME CANNING
Hi guys, sorry for the loooong abscence from here, but we had to put everything on hold due to a family member falling very ill. All is back on track though i'm pleased to report. We had a bit of a crisis finding a jar manufacturer who would accept low order quantities, but we found one willing to w...

Re: HOME CANNING
Hi Jasper, et al We are still on track, we have tweaked 1 or 2 potential investors, and we are in the process of collecting all the projected income/expenditure required for the business plan. Unfortunately we have had to give up on sourcing British suppliers of the canning jars. Kilner wants to sta...

Re: HOME CANNING
I assumed, maybe incorrectly, that it would be blasted into a flavorless mush? Also assuming that as its stored in glass jars you don't get that weird taste that goes with tinned meat? Hi Decaff, sorry for late reply, the meat although is cooked at high pressure, keeps it's shape and integrity plus...

Re: HOME CANNING
I have a question re canning meat, after being processed is it not literally cooked to the death and flavourless? Seems such a long time to be cooked and then you have to cook it again to eat it? Decaff, there's nothing to stop you marinating the meat prior to processing, we do it quite frequently....

Re: HOME CANNING
Is canning different to jams and chutneys? Hi Stasher, yes there is a difference, home canning ( that's what it is called over the pond ), encompasses the art of making jams, chutneys, but it also covers preserving vegetables, meats, soups, sauces etc. With food canning, it is a slightly different ...

Re: HOME CANNING
Hi FEISTY, technically the disc part of the 2 piece lid needs to be discarded after it has been used, but you could always try and reuse it. We have done, but it has been a miss and hit affair. What food have you going to waste FEISTY? Until we get this business off the ground, jars will be pricey, ...

Re: Hedgerow harvests - what are you foraging atm?
Hey folks, how's about a recipe section, there's got to be many variations of more or less the same thing, and I think a lot of age old recipes have been lost or forgotten. Maybe we could revive a few? I personally think it's pertinent to our way of life. What do you guys think? All the best, Daz
