Only tried the American MRE's a couple of times. Not impressed. The heat to eat system (chemical heat pad) is a good idea but the food itself was pretty abysmal. The UK Army boil in the bag rations I find excellent. Longest time period I've used them for was an 8 day stretch. They are easy to prepar...

Further to post, bought one of the inflatable solar lights. Works pretty well. Kept in the light for a couple of days, blew up the plastic balloon and switched in on. Enough light to carry out tasks, wouldn't use it as a reading light, but all in all impressed. Very little weight and small enough to...

at a guess, I'd say you are camped in a pheasant pen. The fence is to keep birds enclosed and safe from foxes etc whilst they acclimatise to the wild before the shooting season starts.
