Re: Wouldn't be without it?

Thanks, I think I'll probably go for the 5 in that case, or remove the locking ring from the 6...

Something to add to the EDC, I never leave home without a pair of Sony earbuds (£9), if I find myself stranded waiting for the bus a little music helps drown out the chavs..!

Re: Perpping Mentality

That's just a general recommendation, although I have been told personally by my GP to drink 2 litres on a normal day, and to step it up to 3 if I'm out running or whatever.

Most days I probably drink around 1.5/2 litres...

Re: Wouldn't be without it?

You mentioned Opinel. Is it true that they are UK legal (obviously blade length permitting)?

Sorry bit off topic I know, but I'd like to add a single blade and the French swear by them...

Re: Re:

Does anyone know off the top of their heads a basic figure in litres per adult per month, including cleaning water..? It's between 4.5 and 6 litres a day depending on climate and conditions (like pregnancy etc) which is then split between drinking and hygiene. That gives between 135 and 180 litres ...

I think in water terms, we're very lucky to live where we live!! Let's say our climate isn't massively altered in coming years; we have relatively frequent and heavy rainfall which is just asking to be collected. Also, our winters tend to be very mild. Classic SAK, ciggy lighter and three metres of 550 on a bracelet...
Then I have other practical items in my EDC bag at most times, it's only 36l so prevents me loading it up with anything non essential! My entire shelter kit now fits in a single standard utility pouch and weighs about a kilo.

I work a few hours in a store which owns karrimor products and promotes their sale viciously... Stay WELL away, even on the high end stuff the build quality is abysmal, despite all the silly tags, and fancy plastic odds and sods! Many guys I know in the forces give a fantastic review of the Lowas, t...

Thanks for the input guys.
@forgeconvus I'm aware of such items, but they tend to be expensive and I only asked because I'd like to be a bit creative and frugal. Otherwise I'd just eat the provided mres like a good boy..!
