The problem is 'Primark Syndrome'. I have a friend who hand-knits, she was asked for a price to knit a shrug* by someone. She told them something like 40 quid plus cost of wool (at a stupidly low hourly rate), only to be told "But I can buy one in Primark for a tenner, I thought you'd be cheap...

To really put it in context. £200 (Price) minus £41 (Materials) divided by 34 hours equals £4.67 1/2p per hour...... Or £1.82 1/2p under the national minimum wage :shock: and that doesnt even cover the cost of some very expensive machinery/tools and my training/skills learnt to use them... i work n...

i dont know yet? around 30 hours of labour and stress went into its making... that and about £35 in materials and sundries. am yet to finish the sheath which is another 4 or 5 hours work and about £6 in materials.

just finished the scales on this one, has a 1/4" thick 7 1/2" blade 13" overall. made from o1 tool steel, scales oak with 5mm brass pins. just one coat of tung oil so far and of course needs a sheath. light is really bad so sorry i cant get better pics. not added my makers "red d...
