modified rat traps are excellent low cost traps for filling the pot with squirrels .... good alternative to the more expensive conibear type traps ....

I think one of the best defenses when concerned about looting is to engage your neighbors. This should be easier in an area that has seen rioting in the past. As others have stated looking less appealing as a target than the next place is an easier defense. I live on a cul-de-sac. Pulling our cars ...

you should also buy a sledge hammer and a few splitting wedges .... otherwise you'll land up breaking your axe trying to split the bigger logs ....
