Re: Mental Health.
Mental health is everything. We now live in Goa. We awake, eat when we want. Do what we want. Whenever we want. Instead of going to the pub for a few, I now fish or swim. The missus no longer teaches 15 year old pregnant kids We've never been happier, because we only deal with ourselves. the rat rac...

Living in an electric (no gas supply) house
Hi folks. My youngest (23 yr old lass) and her chap have finally built the funds to buy their own gaff. Good on em I reckon, but their concern, and mine, is that the house is entirely supplied by electricity mains, no gas. I'm already doing the daddy thing and getting them a couple of gas calor heat...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
Not exactly my own preps but had a funny little convo with the daughter-in-law on the phone. Apparently I have a lot to answer for LOL My lad went a 'bit daft' in Poundland she says. 10 Frey Bentos pies, 10 tins of stewed steak, 30 tins beans,10 tins hotdogs, 10 jars pasta sauce, 20 tins of tuna &am...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
Cheers guys, it ain't something we took lightly, we spent x2 2 month periods there before taking the plunge to move full time. Our preps have always been lifestyle orientated rather than zombie defence :D In Goa, we've found our place. It's healthy beyond words (I've always been a fat knacker, say t...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
Well, we've taken the ultimate prep/lifestyle choice and moved abroad. We're back in the UK at the mo, have sold the family home and have bought a couple of 2 up 2 down houses which are on the rental market as we speak. We've moved to Goa, bought a nice but small house, nowt fancy but very nice area...

Re: Advice Needed - Air Rifle
I'm far from an expert, but the Hatsan range might be worth a look.
I bought a 900X and I'm very, very happy with it.
It's got a silencer fitted, reasonable scope, comes with bag etc.
All in, I think I paid £155.

Re: Whiskey, Wine and Sweets
I'm a bit late to the party, but this may be of value. Last yr myself and the missus went glamping in the van for a week. We keep in the van a smaller proportion of all the preps we keep in the house, all the usuals plus goodies. We decided just for the laff, to live entirely off the van preps. We a...

Re: Homebrew
I've been making beer for years, all sorts of kits and going the all grain route. If using kits I really get the best results when using two cans instead of one, plus a kilo of brewing sugar or malt extract and brew it long to 25 litres. +5% and full of flavour. I agree with jansman. Six weeks is co...

Re: Fire-lighters
One thing I learnt recently is that you can use steel wool and a V9 battery to start a fire. It'll even light when soaking wet as it relies on electricity to complete the circuit and provide the heat. Since learning about it I've also added it to my firelighting kit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
