Re: Winter.

We spent all last Saturday chopping wood again so the shed is full, the garden storage box is full, the old coal bunker is full and we have filled a taut bag full and covered it with a tarp so the garden looks less like pallet city! Made good headway this year but I still want to chop more as its ea...

Body Fluid Spills Kits

Just wondering if anyone has these for a SHTF scenario where they would bug in or if they would just use paper towel, bleach solution and bin liners as they aren't cheap. I do have a few clinical waste bags which I bought last year.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

Thanks Arzosah, and I am sorry but I did giggle a bit at your misfortune. It is surprising though how many people do not every carry the very basics such as a packet of tissues or a plaster. I am not fond of hand gel but always carry a few of the individually packed antibacterial Clinell wipes and g...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

I did not realise that only 4 tomato plants (Totem) would give me such an amazing harvest. We had so many that we have shared them with the whole family, workmates and friends. I still have lots and am going to attempt tomato salsa tomorrow which will apparently freeze although will be a bit mushier...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

Fitted a 3* lock to the door after reading a thread on here. Assessed my first attempts at growing things: strawberries are delicious but need to get there before the birds, need netting next year but am concerned about birds getting caught in it. Herbs have done well, parsley has pretty much taken ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

My normal preps have taken a bit of a nose dive in recent weeks after I discovered I was pregnant! Its our first child so is rather exciting though included in that is some poop your pants thoughts too! Therefore, other than keeping up with my gardening/harvesting I've re-directed my prepping towar...

Re: Slug control in the garden

Last year our garden was filled with toads and frogs and the slug population was non existent. Apparently according to old folklore toads on your doorstep are a sign of wealth, in which case I must be very wealthy indeed! This year however we have seen very few toads or frogs but attribute that to t...

Re: Baby First Aid

I think that this should be a mandatory course for every parent to be and for each pregnancy as a refresher. My eldest was about 8 and choked on a boiled sweet, I did what I needed to on auto-pilot and boy was that scary, didn't help that my son was also there screaming that she was going to die. No...

Food storage temperature

I was proper chuffed (Lancashire terminology) when I eventually had a spare room in which to store my food preps which gave me the ability to rotate things easily and properly. I bought a thermometer which also monitors humidity and check this daily. The room is on the first floor and has two extern...
