Re: Old Oil Lamp

Thanks for the advice. In my defence I misread the name as Toplight and googled that, obviously without success. They have the same lamp but in copper so have emailed them for additional information. We tested it the other night and it works beautifully. Very happy to have it for emergency use and o...

Old Oil Lamp

Having a bit of a clear out in the house, got rid of lots of stuff and found a lot of stuff we had forgotten about including this old oil lamp which was in the attic. From what I can gather it is either an old railway lamp or from a boat. It is in good condition, the wick is still there and still mo...

Re: NEW TO FORUM

My sister who is not a prepper (knows and has seen my store room because I trust her) and I have a competition to see who has the most in their handbag/rucksack aka EDC, although she wouldnt call hers that. She is apparently well known at work for having all of the things in her handbag, if you need...

Re: Well worth looking at

Thanks Rik, I have been wanting to do this for some time so have now ordered the foundation course manual. I am feeling a little stagnant at the moment and need to expand my knowledge in general. I alaready have a handheld Baofeng which I have attempted to use to listen in with little success, I am ...

Re: Four candles (well 3) UCO candles to be precise

That is a beautiful spot pseudonym and a nice little set up. I havent been away camping in my little set up for a few years now, it tends to be with the huge bell tent and glamping set up. I must make the effort next year.

Re: Prepping for Fire

Cat box close to hand, quite bulky so not anywhere which will cause a trip hazard due to smoke. Hotel bag/BOB on a coat hook near to your exit, plus hi vis jackets and perhaps a whistle. As Pseudonym said multiple torches and extinguishers. Check that there is a floor plan at the main entrance for t...

Re: Four candles (well 3) UCO candles to be precise

I was bought a UCO candle holder as a gift, still havent tried it as I also saw the price of the replacement candles. I noticed tonight that my candle stash has run extremely low. I often get gifted scented candles which I tend to keep for best  I also sit by candle light every evening with pla...

Thanks for the link GillyBee. I have seen smoking sheds which people have built which look great. Will save as another resource for the future.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Medusa, I hope its gone really well, your hotel has kept power, your trains weren't delayed, and you're having a smashing time :) I'm snug at home - no power loss, all is well. Thank you, I had such a nice time. All was well at home, the power at the hotel worked but the trains were pretty bad. The...
