Re: Where I used to live
What an absolutely stunning location. Definitely need to have prepping skills especially in winter.

Thanks for the link GillyBee. I have seen smoking sheds which people have built which look great. Will save as another resource for the future.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Medusa, I hope its gone really well, your hotel has kept power, your trains weren't delayed, and you're having a smashing time :) I'm snug at home - no power loss, all is well. Thank you, I had such a nice time. All was well at home, the power at the hotel worked but the trains were pretty bad. The...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Saw the weather warnings for this weekend and panicked for absolutely no reason apart from the fact that I have a very rare night away planned which is reliant on trains (wish me luck). There is food, water and heat at home so all is fine there or if I have to cancel the night away despite losing mo...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
We have triple glazing in the majority of the house and still get condensation on the bedroom windows which we wipe/karcher. We have a bay window and I would really like the slates removing and insulation putting in, as the bedroom over the top has condensation, but husband is worried about disturbi...

Re: Thinking about winter 24-25....
We bought a dehumidifier, if theres no breeze then the laundry will not dry on the line much to my disgust and we usually dry it in front of the log burners but I was worried abput the damp. Happy with it as it seems the house feels warmer and my fitted wardrobe smells less musty. Rotating it around...

Re: Straw Poll. How much food do you have in reserve? How well do you stock rotate?
Food, probably 3+ months if it was just the two of us and I was just looking at tinned, dried, jars etc. If I was still able to use freezer stuff then longer. If I had to feed others in my family then much less. At that point it would be family members who did manual labour and children who were fed...

Re: Prices!!
See also Yorkshire teabags, managed to order them a few weeks ago at just over £26 for 1040 and havent seen them cheaper than £28.30 since. I am sure that I used to pay much less. The thought of having to buy a cheaper brand horrifies me, we drink a lot of tea in our house.

Re: Prices!!
Not human food but the Sheba we buy for our cat has gone from £26.98 last month to just over £33.00 this month. As we know hisnibs will eat this brand it is pointless trying him on something cheaper which he will turn his nose up at. There was a shortage of it in 2022 and I can see from previous ord...
