Re: Value Range foods compared

I’m going to try them but Mr Mcprepper is notoriously snobby when it comes to baked beans - only Heinz will do so I’ll have to try the taste test on him! Thankfully his snobbery only applies to beans … if they’re a go I’ll go and stock up - great price!! We used to be Branston fans and were never i...

Re: Advice on how to get organised

Hi, I'm quite new here but it's been a while since my last (and first) post. I've taken a lot of great advice from the boards and have identified a lot of storage spaces in what I previously thought was a very small flat. I'm struggling to keep myself and my supplies organised though. I know that s...

A few dozen onion sets in the lawn edging is a jolly jape and dead easy.

Now, we need Tesco to do such cases of baked beans.

If you buy 46 of them you can fortify your position.
Good thinking. One case would be enough to built an internal shelter and cans of beer would make radiation screening.

Sadly not shipping to the UK

Brilliant weather for the gardeners amongst us! Did a few more hours digging out marestail and bindweed at the lotment. Took a few binbags full to the tip. Will I pass the inspection this month? Looking hopeful. I just need to stay on top of it. Started some seeds in modules and into my little plas...

Prepper Size Case of Beer :)

Amusing story on CNN: A Canadian beer producer has come up with a handy size case of beer that should see you through four years of bugging in. I.e, enough to sit out a political crisis. They call it their 'Presidential pack' ‘Just enough to get through’: Brewery selling crate of 1,461 beers to help...

Have been sowing seed this last week or so now. Mostly onions (we eat loads of them) and kale. Can you advise me here? Last year I sowed onion seeds and separately planted some sets. The seeds were a dead loss. What should I realistically expect from those stupidly tiny onion seeds? How long will i...

Re: Value Range foods compared

I make my own using butter beans....Tube of puree is the basis for both. In fact beans don't need much of that. I'm going to try to grow cannellini beans this year as they are pretty taste neutral and make decent baked beans. They are fairly low in oxalates I use puree or just tinned tomatoes in oh...

Re: Allotment: Woo Hoooo!!! :) :) :)

Good luck, Jenny, I'm glad you haven't stopped. I've just been setting up my seed trays today, going to get the coir seeding medium mixed in with a little bit of compost, and get them going over the weekend. I have lots of those coir brickettes and for a while I was a big fan. But having compared s...

Re: Allotment: Woo Hoooo!!! :) :) :)

There's easily a day of weeding to be done and with the marestail, it will all get taken offsite. Tick Tock..... sowing time is ebbing away. Having neglected the plot over winter, this week I had a couple of days digging over and weeding. It's inspection month and I was expecting a warning letter, ...
