Re: Fixed blade knife

Another vote for Mora. I have loads of knives but only about a dozen are fixed blades. For the price Mora can't be beaten (buy two in case you lose one and you'll have change out of a score). I bought mrs K one for the garden and she used the bejeesus out of it and left it outside over the winter; a...

Re: Do we store enough Protein?

I bulk buy dried TVP (https://www.clearspring.co.uk/products/ ... ac90&_ss=r).
They are dried, so long shelf life. One pack does 8-10 portions, which works out at about 39p each. You need to add a bit of flavour but we use it in chilli, spag bol etc.

The Holy Grail of radios

I've got a little wind-up AM/FM radio in the workshop which is ok but I'd like to get something better. Is there anything that does AM/FM/LW/SW and DAB and is reasonably priced. Wind-up would be good but I have a lot of batteries and solar charging capability so it's not essential. Price is a consid...

They all say they are written by Lofty Wiseman so I suspect they're essentially the same.

Re: Foolproof Boiled Rice

My family all rate my rice (all except my brother in law who claims his putty-like lump is nicer). I use easy-cook because its, well, easy: 1. put rice in a sieve 2. wash it under running water until the water runs clear (couple of mins). 3. boil in pan of water for 15 mins. For basmatti rice to hav...

Re: Bugout bag - What am I doing wrong?

Have you considered breaking it down to two or more separate bags ? Would be easier for two of you to carry 8kg each than keep swapping a 12kg. You can then split the essentials across the two bags so that if you lose/damage one you're not completely scuppered.

Fixed to the inside of a cupboard door ?

We have our boiler inside a tall cupboard and there's a couple of spice racks fixed to the door.

To program it you will need a programming cable (who'd have thunk it) and a program called Chirp : https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home

Re: Water (lack of)

Pretty good here in Sussex. The four main reservoirs and groundwater levels are about average for this time of year.

Going forward, though, my water butts need topping up; this time of year we can use 100l a day watering the plants in the greenhouse and pots.
