Re: I'm making a film - can you help?
I'd be game if this is still going ahead. Young man in my early 20's looking into prepping for an uncertain future. Based in Yorkshire, specializing in bush craft and surviving in nature rather than hoarding preps.

Are oxygen absorbers necessary?
Trying to experiment with home made MRE's at low cost but oxygen absorbers are pushing the price up. From what i've seen people always use oxygen absorbers in mylar bags. However having looked into the history of food storage it doesn't seem like oxygen absorbers actually make a big difference. If y...

Re: Preserving chives
Dry them but in a lower heat dehydrator, it will dry faster if you chop them up but it will also make them spoil sooner

Storing nuts
I am experimenting with homemade MRE's as something of a side project and i was wondering if anyone had experience storing nuts not in a freezer for extended periods? I was thinking of adding roasted peanuts into the MRE's. The Nuts would be sealed in a mylar bag with no moisture so would this be su...

Re: powdered millk
I threw out my stored powdered milk as it was out of date and that is one dried thing that isn't good to use post date. Went to Sainsbury's to grab some more as I feel that is a prepping essential but they only seem to stock the really expensive Cadbury Marvel powdered milk now. What powdered milk ...

Re: What are you dehydrating?
I am dehydrating nettles. They have 3 advantages over any other kind of dehydrated food. Firstly they are free and grow everywhere. Secondly they are one of the most nutritious plants on earth, far more nutritious than most of the plants we regularly eat as part of our diet.Because of this they hav...

Re: What are you dehydrating?
All my dehydrating is of stuff i forage rather than buy. I have nettle, dandelion, hairy bitter cress, garlic mustard and plantain drying atm but i get up to about 20 different herbs and plants dehydrating throughout the year when stuff comes into season. It's completely free, and its useful as if t...

Re: How did you became interested in prepping?
My high school burnt down. I had always been interested in bush craft and survival-ism just as a hobby. When i started studying economics i realized how much our system is vulnerable. The final push was when my high school burnt down and it caused massive disruption in my local community. Parents ha...

Re: Birch sap
Hello, I have recently harvested a load of birch sap however some of it came out of the tree brown. From what i have harvested before and from what i have read the sap is supposed to be clear. I was wondering if anyone knew what this was or if it is still safe to eat or not. Thank you. I have limit...
