Re: Straw Poll. How much food do you have in reserve?

We're just reaching the end of being snowed in since 1st January, could probably get out today but likely wait until tomorrow. We're a family of five (two adults, 3 late teens and two cats). We've had a very comfortable 10 days, no shortages, no change to diet, but running out of eggs, milk, breakfa...

Re: TVP as bird feed?

can we give it to the garden birds? Would not think so, TVP does not have the natural oils or fats that birds need in their diet to survive, also it is normally high in salt and additives which birds bodies would not be able to handle. That is my thoughts on it but others may think differently. Tha...

TVP as bird feed?

Bit of an off centre question here - we're in rural aberdeenshire, been snowed in for a week, not expecting to get out until at least the weekend if not longer. Humans and cats have plenty of provisions, however we've run out of bird food for the wild (garden) birds. We have some TVP that we didn't ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

My son drove into town to drop his mates off at the bus so I've sent him into Tesco to get more beer (just in case).

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

Just strapped down the wheely bins, got extra wood in and ensured that the gang of teenagers who have been resident since the 27th are leaving today so that they don't get snowed in with us. 50mph wind, snow and sub zero temperatures forecast for the next four days, that's a pretty sure recipe for b...

Storm Bran

Well, that's my bins lashed down in readiness.
We're in the NE of scotland so only a yellow warning here (70mph winds), it's an amber warning for the west of Scotland.

Re: Cheese for long shelf life stores?

What about the "cheese" (and I use the term loosely) sachets in MRE's? Pretty sure they'd last a good long time if they could be bought separately to an MRE.

Re: Bugout bag - What am I doing wrong?

Baby trailer with stroller bits 40kg payload Funnily enough my mind is drawn to film of French citizens fleeing the invading German army in 1940 where several are pushing the old style of prams. I don't follow Canadian prepper on YouTube but this popped up on my feed, almost as if Google is listeni...

Re: Bugout bag - What am I doing wrong?

And also - carry the bag more. Take it when you go on family walks etc. Just getting used to carrying the load makes it "lighter".
Ps - yeah, 3 knives, hatchet, trauma shears & saw is a bit overkill.
