Re: Prepper -'lite' or full on survivalist
I do wonder whether in the case of complete societal breakdown, I would only last a few days in my semi-urban/not-quite-rural environment before the mobs arrive to plunder after a few days. In this case I would only need a couple of weeks' food, maybe. Then, anything can happen. In this situation m...

Re: Prepper -'lite' or full on survivalist
Prepper lite here, Im considering the scenarios that require sitting on your hands, in situ, waiting for events/authorities to kick back in and return to some semblance of normality. Such a return and the timescale, is dependent upon the nature, of any such emergency. My job (as I see it) is to for...

Re: Cooking during power outage
I have: Two camping gas stoves that screw in the top of a canister. One of these is in my BOB. It fits inside a 1.1 litre pot with a small gas canister. The pot has a hanging loop and I have a titanium chain for that, in case I run out of gas. You just need 3 long sticks. One Mini Trangia One Trang...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Finally almost used up all my old pasta which was all slightly over best before date. Have a load of space now. Bought 2 bags of wholewheat, Jan 2026 expiry, chucked them to the back of the cupboard. Will get a few more over the next week. Am now in the habit of having pasta more often, so will get ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Mostly just doing jobs on the house. Got 4 new windows coming this month. Had one repaired. Got pointing done in the loft, side walls are only single brick! I only got it partially done, where there was big gaps. Everything seems good up there apart from a bit of condensation on one of the purlins....

Re: New member saying hello
Hi, welcome to the forum. Hope you get some ideas for your stall. I would stock prepping items that woul appeal to non-preppers as well as things specifically aimed at preppers, so you can get non-preppers into prepping, and sell more. Eg Bic lighters. Freeze dried backpacking meals with a decent sh...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Just ordered 4 new windows. Not exactly prepping, but in a way I guess. Got the dehumidifier running 24/7. Got to look after the house and the lodgers. I still owe some money on loans, but the interest is only £40 a month, and that will decrease over time. I'm not borrowing any more to pay for the w...

Re: Best head torch on AA battery?
I've been looking for a head torch and was surprised to find that some of them are described as having 'motion detection' on them. Presumably this is to switch them on and off? Has anyone got one of these? I'm always a bit wary of having techie stuff on simple gadget, so does it work OK? I dunno. M...
