Re: New and hoping I'm doing this right

Not a Londoner, but would be interesting to read the research. How do you see prepping relating to anthropology, in a nutshell? Are you testing a hypothesis? Prepping for many people is intertwined with day-to-day life, which is what anthropologists love to talk about. My hypothesis, basically, is ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

My prep for washing clothes if the grid is down is a spare washing up bowl. I sometimes use it to hand was a cycling top. Also came in handy when the roof leaked. I have about 4 in total. First aid stuff is kept in one. Ordered 6 x 140g Azera coffee. £48 RRP, got it for £31. I only buy it if it's re...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Did a tidy/declutter/clean in the prep room. Pulled out the drawers, rack and clothes rail (which has a fake wood base) and cleaned underneath. Still got a bit to do, but I've made a good start. I need to get some containers to go on the rack, just been having a look, think I've found some that will...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Realised that the outside walls in the prep room are probably cold enough to get condensation, and I have a rack of clothes touching it. Can't see any mould, thankfully, on the walls or the clothes. I moved the rack away from the wall a bit, so at least they aren't touching. It's a cold room, and th...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Ah no staying put isn't a viable option, although where we are now was fine when we bought it more than 20 years ago but as the years roll by niether health nor lifestyle is what it was. The gardens too small to allow a decent size extension, then add into that that we absoluely hate it where we ar...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Boiler and tax issues all sorted. Phew. Apparently clearance between flue and joists realates to non-condensing boilers, that had hotter gases. It can't be that hot if it's made out of plastic. Tax was reduced from an extra £1800 to £119. Got some Imodium delivered, routine update. One of the most i...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Got to get my boiler sorted, but at least it's back on. The management are gonna talk to manufacturer management on Monday to try to figure out what to do!

Noticed I still have some dried egg left, need to chuck that. I'll probably give the Nido to a food bank.

Re: Food for bug out? Quantities

I have no car, no dependants. I would use my bike if I could. I see no reason why I couldn't. I can carry more than if I was walking. For a 2-3 day evacuation, I have packed just under 5,000 calories. 2,500 is in a pack of Seven Oceans ration bars (9 bars of 271 calories each). About 2,400 is in 5 f...
