Re: Batteries

Any thoughts on battery chargers, please? I’m happy to pay for good quality that will last and charge quickly. Brand leaders seem to be Varta and Ansmann. Is there much difference or does it come down to personal preference ?

There’s a book called ‘The Fireless Cook Book’ that’s available. I’m not sure if it’s an adapted version of the one published in 1913 but you can buy it new or on 2nd hand bookshops. Personally: 1. I’d be very wary of cooking a whole joint or chicken like this because there are minimum temperatures ...

Do toothpaste and paracetamol go out of date? I need painkillers and apparently they’re going to be difficult to get. Toothpaste does make life more pleasant

They won’t have shedloads of cash, though, once the servers go down, unless they’ve converted it to gold and buried it on their island. And you can’t eat gold. I like to think they’ll be nobodies

Re: Super rich preppers article

All that money would be useless when the servers go down, unless you’ve turned it into gold dubloons and buried it.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9

I do find it interesting that a lot of our conversations are about saving energy. This thread is about electric dishwasher issues. Just a thought. ;) I knew this would come up! As I mentioned, my dishwasher cleans better than I do. It’s a small one and I run it only when full, though if I over fill...

Re: Hello!

Thank you for your thoughts. What I would find very hard would be to be without online support. I feel some relief to share my thoughts with people who think the same way.

Storing, preparing and cooking.

I am trying to pull together the different strands that I’ve seen on here, partly prompted by the forthcoming energy crisis, which I think will be accompanied by a water shortage, and partly because I am concerned long-term. My fridge freezer is 10 years old, I have a Sage slow fast cooker, which is...

Ah ok. ATM I use finish eco tablets. Hydrogen peroxide is useful stuff. The drying cycle on the eco setting seems to be an hour of doing nothing and it works provided you don’t open the door.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9

Please don't skimp on hot water for dishes. You get food poisoning that way - I used to work in an infectious diseases hospital and that was one of the things that always came up. I’m grateful for the advice but puzzled. My Bosch dishwasher does an Eco wash at 50*. I started using a dishwasher when...
