Re: Stored Milk gone wrong...
I regularly get calls from some exotic countries like Qatar, UAE etc asking me if I want going there for a year. This is when I realise that my food stock is a burden because it needs rotation, sorting and review That’s why I decided to gradually replace my food with freeze dried and maybe keep up t...

Re: 72 hours survival kit vs modern times
When I travel for work around the UK, I usually have only a hold-all. Though I take a few rations with me
Find I kind of contradict myself - I feel safe travelling with very few things and used to spend most of the week not at home

Prepping is getting bigger in the UK
Wonder why it is happening. Suspect several things not mentioned in the article: 1. We are getting richer, so more disposable income allows us to make reserves 2. News and fake news are spreading faster causing over-reaction 3. Change in attitudes (though it is mentioned in the article) https://www....

Re: Thoughts please
There is Jerven bag, it is comparable in size to a sleeping bag, but waterproof. I got myself Extra and put in the car. I had an emergency this winter, took my family to the hospital and stayed in the car during the night - it was 4 degrees Celsius, but I felt very warm and this surprised me Probabl...

Re: 72 hours survival kit vs modern times
Feels like I have too much food... One guy well said on another forum: "The size of a hiker's backpack is an indicator of the size of their fear". I guess I fear too much that have problems with the storage Anyway, I once asked AI what will be a reasonable storage in case of a nuclear war ...

Re: 72 hours survival kit vs modern times
To much risk in not having anything and shopping daily to eat. The just in time replenishment fails more times that you probably think. I work in a superstore and buy meat and produce most days. But, still have about a week of food in pasta and tins. Good point. However, what about the costs of sto...

Re: Ultraprocessed Foods - Open Food Facts.
It is boring to cook if you live alone However, I initially started cooking from BBC Good foods recipes impressing my family. Then, because I don’t like going to supermarket daily for missing ingredients, I signed up for Gousto. Then I bought myself absolutely ridiculously expensive Japanese Masamot...

Re: Deciding what foods to store in what quantities
By the way - I simply asked AI how much food it is reasonable to store in the UK. And it suggested me 3 months. This is the amount modern Mormons should store at home too - it was 2 years worth of food in the past, but gradually reduced to this amount I would think then 3 months is way too much for ...

Re: 72 hours survival kit vs modern times
If I remember correctly, food for 72 hours came because this is more or less the amount of food a person can carry on them plus other items like clothes and valuable possessions I admire people who don’t have much food at home because they get fresh produce. However, I prefer having some contingency...

Re: Deciding what foods to store in what quantities
Have you thought what emergency you are preparing? Because various emergencies create additional restrictions For example, if you are prepping for something similar to Covid, then this list will work no problem However, if you are prepping for a nuclear strike, then you may have problems with cookin...
