Re: Hi

Hi Adjee,

Welcome to the forum. In the UK, most of us prepare for disasters or short to medium term shortages of food, energy, water. It sounds as if you're a lot better off in Bulgaria than we in the UK.

Re: Powdered egg ?

I got mine from a reputable seller on eBay. I tried some and it works fine for poaching. The rest was carefully stored. To make life easy for myself, I can poach them hard in one of those small silicone rubber "cups" in the saucepan when cooking rice or whatever. I do this for hard - boile...

It's best to follow UK people if you can; Americans like defensive tools which are illegal here, but they have great ideas a...

Re: What are you dehydrating?

This has reminded me that I need to finish up some vegetables I dehydrated a couple of years ago. I use a 6 shelf cuboid - shaped dehydrator that cost me about £80. It does a good job, but takes several hours; I only dehydrate basic vegetables. I need very good ventilation in the kitchen for this, o...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

62% isn't bad. But you need to run a humidifier for weeks, not hours, to have much effect, according to the manufacturer of mine. Some sources say indoors should be 50-55%, but I did see one that said 60% is ideal. Bear in mind we are in a damp country, where it is often > 90% outside. Thanks from ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

I noticed a bit of condensation, despite being double glazed, so I went round wiping them. I have the central heating on low during this cold weather, plus supplementary heating with a small halogen electric fire. I don't have a woodburner. Temperatures throughout the house are between 12 and 15.5 ...
