Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Thanks for all the well wishes folks. I think it will go well, I'm relatively fit and healthy aside from this and it's a good team. I also meant to mention, getting the diagnosis promptly followed by getting some kind of gastric illness and just taking to my bed for a few days....ive kicked my caffe...

Yeah it's not a great deal.of money at all in terms of monthly payments or interest. We just had the nice spot where we went from living in overdrafts and carrying credit balances to only having the mortgage debt, it was nice for a while and helped us to both work part time. I'm back full time but h...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

People have mentioned poor germination this year. Mine has been bad then the seedlings just stopped growing and lots died. I've never had this before. I've bought some vermiculite to increase drainage. Anything I took a risk on and planted out into the garden early has done well because of the warm ...

Re: Garden Coverage

I did see a robot mower at lidl for 200 quid. I tried a wildflower meadow and it just looked a bit rubbish most of the time. I put it back to grass seed. Creeping thyme looks good for a bit and then it gets bald patches. Clover is a nice alternative to lawn. Less or zero mowing depending how short y...

Re: 72 hours survival kit vs modern times

I was on a training course at work a few weeks ago. I heard the guys on the table next to me saying talking out prepping. One said his wife was convinced that ww3 was going to start and is keeping a big stock of stuff and the other said, since covid, he's just always kept a bit extra in. My father i...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

I've had to take a chicken to the vet to get some antibiotics. Being ex battery hens 3 of the 4 won't roost, they just sit down to sleep, they're pooping then sitting in their poop all night, one seems to have developed an infection. The vet recommended removing the comfy bedding to get them to roo...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

The propagator has worked better than I expected with the early tomatos and aubergines already germinating. I've had to take a chicken to the vet to get some antibiotics. Being ex battery hens 3 of the 4 won't roost, they just sit down to sleep, they're pooping then sitting in their poop all night, ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

I've been mostly sowing seeds and I bought an electric propagator , it doesnt seem very warm and i suspect i'll end up wanting a higher end one. Sowed the peppers and aubergines a bit late but its better than not doing them at all I hope. Keeping on with the gardening and home repairs that are cropp...

Re: Advice on how to get organised

I like these clock change ideas. I'm definitely struggling with organisation also. My spare food storage is a very deep, high up cabinet. It's stuff we regularly buy so I can just pull it out fill the 'current' food cupboard with it and buy for the store cupboard. Keeping and updating a list was just...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Wow I did am epic long post even by my standards  The guy delivered today saying he used to deliver logs for firewood but said it wasn't worth the money with the time and diesel. Considering how expensive logs are I suspect you're right that they really need to recoup costs from quite large...
