My prepping this week has consisted of noting down natural food sources ie, sweet chestnut trees, wild cherry, apple etc that are accessible within my local area plus water courses that I can use to wash and cook. Looking costs nothing but knowledge is everything

Jenny, hello and thank you for your warm welcome. Try cooking rice in a food flask. Boil water at a 3 to 1 ratio to the rice and put it all in a food flask and leave it for 40 mins. You only use enough fuel for the initial boil. I try to cook all my food like this when I'm out in the ulu.

My advice to anyone in the prepping community is be as fit as possible, this alone will aid you to carry your kit. Also don't assume you need loads of equipment, you do not, just carry enough to keep your child warm and dry.
