Re: It's still about.

I still have fond memories of the early days of COVID, before we knew it's specific severity or transmissibility. My porch became a clean room, a hand pumped garden sprayer, filled with 99% isopropyl I bought in bulk just as things were kicking off, helped steriliser the NBC suit and mask I wore out...

Re: Straw Poll. How much food do you have in reserve?

I only have three months dried goods right now (for four people) but my plan is to get to 1 year of at least moderate protein and carbs storage. I have an allotment for fresh stuff, but I can only grow so much, and I'm not the best gardener! Dried rice and beans form staples, then there's a big box ...

Re: survival food

My main emergency stores are rice and dried black turtle beans. However you absolutely need variety! I have an allotment, so some variety can come from there. Other good bulk storage things are sauces - I have giant bottles of chilli sauce which lasts a few years, garlic sauces (though I grow garlic...

Any other lasses on here?

:Prepping seems to be a largely male activity (though most of the YT vids I watch on the subject are practical, homesteading American women.)
Still, just wondering if there are any other lasses active on these forums? Not that I mind mucking in with the lads, just curious, lol!

Solar Power and Storage?

10 years ago I got 11 solar panels fitted, just getting into the governments higher rate FIT payment scheme before it reduced the agreed payment rate and then cancelled the scheme altogether. They are paid off now and the benefit is clear! At the time, bit wasn't really worth the extra expense to get...

External Dry Goods Storage?

As part of my 1-year family nutrition plan, I've started to buy dry goods to provide a reasonable source of protein and carbohydrates. I decided on two old favourites - rice and beans! My initial purchase has been a 20kg sack of black turtlebeans (most people go kidney, but my partner and I prefer t...

Hiya! I'm a low-effort prepper committed to doing what I can living as I do in an Urban, Northern setting. I have an extensive garden with a decent sized allotment attached (lucky me!) So that's a start. Mainly focussed on mitigating short term risks, so I have my bug-out bag but I'm also mainly mak...
