Re: Mobile CB for long range?
You can use 2 matching antennas and a co-phase maybe many truckers do this or at least did back in the day and in states most big wheelers practiced it. Don't over think the antenna install I'm sure it will be fine ,not all antennas can be mounted centrally on vehicles.theirs always a compromise on...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?
Firestik are good antennas pretty tough and the 11 later model a doddle to swr. Mounting on bullbar will work but at a sacrifice on signals in some direction . If you imagine a round tin lid.you put a antenna dead centre you will get equal radiation and signal receiving equally all around.if your a...

Solar panels.
Preferably mobile, are they any good? Im thinking charging leisure batteries and things like that, anyone want to school me on Solar? Batteries would be used to run a Cb and perhaps some 12v led lighting. I take it running things straight off a panel would be impossible? Or has the tech moved forwar...

Re: Landrover bug out vehicle.
Thanks guys, Im already a member of BOV UK on facebook but Im not into creating big, flash overland type vehicles, some of them would be nothing more than a target in the wrong situations. Low key and inconspicuous is my aim.

Re: Storing diesel? Long term?
How do you store it? I was thinking 50 gallon drums to stop contamination from effecting the entire store then rotating it by filling jerry cans at the pump and fuelling the Landy from the drum.

Re: Landrover bug out vehicle.
Are you on neat oil? I run 50/50 when I can but I have the CAV pump so it needs a bit of diesel in it to keep it happy.

Re: Roadless Landrover
Ive ran a 19J for 15 years now, been up and down Europe twice with it, Greece, Switzerland, its been up and down the Uk, never had a pre-combustion chamber (they arnt swirl pots) come away on me yet. They do however suffer from cracked piston crowns and I have yet to see one without cracks, but unle...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?
I would obviously like as much range as possible, I plan to have one in a vehicle and one as a home base, even going to the nearest shop here is a good 5 miles away so range is important. The home base is undecided but the vehicle will have a firestick mounted on a bull bar, not ideal I know but I n...

Re: Long distance Walkie Talkies
Surely if you are to rely on phone signals, satellites etc etc it kind of voids the need for radio, just use your mobile and call people.
