Oops........, I forgot to add a very large caveat to my posts. They all assume that whatever happen is below the level of something like a nuclear war. If it is a near extinction level type of event. Then that really does come into a go to hell plan arena. All bets are off and we are just going to have to take it day by day.
We enjoy our prepping as a family hobby that we hope never needs to be used to its fullest.
Thanks all

Re: The Anti-prepper prepper
I will be bugging in, to a certain extent, although in a pretty remote area, that for most would be bugging 'out' but one of
my plans will be to plant perrennial crops around the local area so apart from my own stocks I will live in an artificially
created "area of plenty" for 'foraged food'
Us brits are so unused to foraging that I think it will be pretty safe in plain sight...or at least, 10 feet off the beaten track.
Consider - cultivated mushrooms = food. Mushrooms growing in a field = scarey.
Also means the fresh food won't be concentrated in one little area so the "marauding hoards" won't have such a handy target.
Disadvatage will be that I have to go off site, but again, the remoteness will help me.
Might not all work, but I'll enjoy doing it and some will work.
When I was young...20+ years ago, I made some balls of compost wrapped in newspaper with flower seeds in them, and threw them out of the car window as I was driving about. Did about 20 balls For years after it amused me to see the flowers I'd thrown growing each year. Might try the same technique

There was a phrase for that It escapes me now, but you have a good idea, food crops that will grow in the wild so foraging becomes easier permaculture bombs it could help the bees too, we often see blackberries and the like, but if we deliberately planted stuff you can eat around and about?adrian007 wrote: When I was young...20+ years ago, I made some balls of compost wrapped in newspaper with flower seeds in them, and threw them out of the car window as I was driving about. I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Re: The Anti-prepper prepper
rabbits and deer are a real issue with this senorio.....although if you can encourage them in there a great source of meat
Re: The Anti-prepper prepper
Yes rabbits and deer ( and for that matter many other wild creatures ) are all good food but to bring it back closer to the original theme of the thread one should consider the huge number of animals with an owner , farm animals, pets and even zoo animals are all edible but would require them being effectively stolen which after all is the modus operandi of the anti prepper.

They could be good launched atop an ICBM - turn vast areas of non productive desert full of squabbling extremists into a land of fruit and nut eating hippies.grenfell wrote:I think I prefer your "permaculture bomb" namePlymtom wrote:I knew I'd seen it somewhereGuerrilla planting

Re: The Anti-prepper prepper
some of my best friends are "hippies"! they know a lot more about living off the land than any straight I've met.
Adapt or Die, there is no middle ground.
