You have dependent family, absolutely. I'm glad you're prepping on their behalf, but its worthwhile prepping for yourself too, honest (ah - just seen the winky smiley properly, good stuff

If it was only for me I really wouldn't bother, on my own I can live under bridgeArzosah wrote:You have dependent family, absolutely. I'm glad you're prepping on their behalf, but its worthwhile prepping for yourself too, honest (ah - just seen the winky smiley properly, good stuff
but in case it will the most important thing is to be mortgage free as soon as possible - and to have some wealth (like another property to rent), prepping for me is not only preparing for shtf situations but also for shitty life and bad personal circumstances, as life can complicate badly without any disasters or economic collapse. therefore me and my wife are insured, if one of us dies, another gets cash to pay of house and live jobless for few years - that's prepping for me. I think about retirement - I think how to invest, to save for time when I won't be able to work, as I don't want my son to spend his money to keep me at home - that's prepping for me. I want to be financially independent in today's world - that's prepping for me. once shtf and services will stop working electronic money stored in banks will just dissapear, but wealthy person diversifying his wealth (properties, shares, some silver at home) will still have it easier then a guy who cared to buy expensive tent, expensive knife, expensive rucksack etc. Imagine yourself a family bugging out with brand new rucksacks on their backs, in new military clothes - they look like shouting "I have lots of equipment, food etc - rob me, PLEASE!". to bug out you need to look like poor lad who starves and not during night , but during the day. (do you feel safe at night today in the middle of urban area?)
of course it matters to have some food at home, in case of few days long situations like lack of power or floods, but skills to get food are more important. seeing people who have 9 months supplies bragging about in on tv or youtube - prepping like that has no sense. seeing doomsday preppers - they already lost - braging on tv about their preparations they advertised free food location after shtf. and as long as I am honest and law abiding person in case of seeing my son starving I will rob anybody without blink of an eye to feed my kid, and most of people will do so.
