Post by junmist »

Popped into town today and QD are doing some mixed fruit bushes for 1.99 Got myself a loganberry and a Honeyberry, have no idea what either of them taste like but the honeyberry is a purple blue colour so hopefully will put some people off

Loganberry is a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry and taste like it. If unpruned the loganberry will get very big - like a large blackberry plant.

Honeyberrys taste like blueberrys dipped in honey. However you should get a second honeyberry bush. They are not really very self fertile and having a second plant to pollinate will get you a lot more fruit. Also do not expect many berrys for the first few years off the honeyberry - they take a bit of time to get settled in.

At that price, spotting a few honeyberrys here and there on waste land could be useful as a guerrilla gardening strategy.
