Writing a book .....

Hi there,

We are prepares from the north, not seriously organised yet and very much in the beginning stages but interested in being more prepared since the children arrived!

I hope this appropriate as I am not a journalist etc, but I have started writing a book, do the forum rules apply to this?. I know it's a flooded market for teotwawki but we are mainly using it as a way to prep the family. The kids aren't best pleased about a weekend without power so mum can get some inspiration ...and don't even get them started on bugging out!

is there anyone out there who could advise me on how mobile phone networks would cope with a grid outage? I have a scenario I am trying to make as realistic as possible (without my googling having me end up on a terrorist watch list!).

What I would like to know, is if the grid went down, would mobile phone companies have ups and be able to keep the network running for a period of time?

Hope I haven't overstepped forum rules and that someone can help.

Hello and welcome.
In answer to your question on cell phones each tower has a battery back up. I would expect most cells to be dark after 12 -24 hours of no Grid Power. That is assuming that they are not closed to unauthorized user.
