Bought this book by mistake on my Kindle - it's a zombie book and I have never, ever read a zombie book. But, it's not at all bad so far, and the zombies are only mentioned in a small way.
Basically, following a zombie invasion, most of the country is ordered to evacuate to coastal enclaves. The main character is stuck in his flat with a broken leg/full length plaster on. He's waiting for a friend to pick him up but when the rescuer arrives, the zombies, who are milling about on the streets, kill him. So our guy is stuck in his flat with very little in the way of preps. His plaster is due off in about 70 days but the food and water is going to run out long before then, and he's going to have to leave at some point. For now he is bugged in.
It's never going to win book of the year but it is a surprisingly readable story so far, as he begins to realise the preps/skills which would have been helpful...The isolation issue is interesting too.
It also makes the point that he hasn't a best mate who happens to be an ace pilot etc, nor has he happened to find a warehouse full of food like some other books of this type.
I see there is a book 2 so I'm guessing this one is going to end at an awkward point - but it is currently 77p (kindle price)! and worth a look.

I've read all of them - and didn't mind in the least buying the others in the series! They're fairly well written, I enjoyed them
Re: Surviving the Evacuation : London
I've read them all to. Not bad although I do which they would take the time to edit them properly they have quite a few silly typos and the like.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Those drive me insane! It makes me want to offer my services as a free lance copy reader/editor. Only thing that stops me is that even I need to sleep sometimes, and I'd make more doing what I do now!

In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.
