I am a food industry veteran , I know about hand transmitted contamination. Hell, I have to swab test door handles and equipment handles every day. Yes you are right. Watch how many folks use a public loo and don't wash their hands.
Anyhow, the first sign , then lockdown could easily be too late. I felt ill within moments. Literally went from chirpy and fit to feeling AWFUL inside two minutes. Who knows?

On a lighter note. Jan rang our fave curry house and had a meal sent up. When I was serving in HM Navy, I had an 8 month detachment to the Indian Navy. An Indian Chef told me that if you feel rough then a 'damn good dose of Madras will sweat it out of you'.Madras it was tonight. Ya know what? That Madras made me sweat alright. And I feel good. :D
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

I took my daughter to the doctors rooms twice this week for migraines - and had to sit in the waiting room while people all around us coughed and spluttered - and didn't use anything to cover their mouths. It was disgusting - I honestly thought that I would walk out of the doctors rooms having come down with something (thank goodness I didn't catch anything though).

Then when I went to the Sainsbury to fill the prescription at the pharmacy there, my daughter had to go to the loo, so in we go, only to see one of the Sainsbury staff walk out of a cubicle and straight out the door, and not wash her hands. I was appalled!

Since when did it become natural for people to have so little personal hygiene?

I hope you complained to the Sainsbury's Manager, preferably loudly, within the earshot of every customer :). That person might have been on cucumber shelf stacking duty directly afterwards. Agree - disgusting!

when I am out and about I carry a small bottle of hand gel with me, in public loos the taps are covered in other peoples germs, wash your hands then get reinfected when you grab the door handle to open it? I use my hand gel when I get outside!!

I use a tissue to open the doors after having washed my hands, the same to switch the tap off - I agree, you wash your hands, only to touch germs again when you switch the tap off or open the door. :x

Got myself 2 X 2L "water carriers" from poundland. They are cute things in a silly pink and a silly blue (presumably gender specifics!) they have little taps on the sides of them and, amongst other uses, they may also be fun to make iced teas and cold pressed coffees with.

Hey Guys

Been a while hope you are all well and safe.

been a busy few weeks with work and life so not been up to much on the prepping side of things.

The Town had a scare a couple of weeks ago the water board was carrying out maintenance which meant most of the town was without tap water / water from the tap for around 12 hours. The uproar and complaining was shocking you would honestly think we had not had any tap water for 12 years the way some people went on. Made me think what it would be like if anything along those lines was to happen and how people would react, Kind of scary really.

Purchased some out of date Canned Soup the other day only 10 p a can from the local shop, People where looking at me like I was a madman because it was out of date, Surprises me how many people have their food habits dictated to them by a printed date especially when it comes to canned goods.

Being left Handed Tin Openers are my enemy which is why I usually buy ring pull cans as my right hand is pretty redundant but I have finally taken the plunge and got a left handed tin opener and I have to admit it works perfectly but at 4 times the price of an ordinary one it is certainly something I will have to stock up on slowly. :D

So overall not much going on pound shop browsing next week so bound to pick up a few bits and bobs (always find something in that place)

Hope all is well guys and gals
be safe be happy and be lucky

Discovered that there is a Gardening Club connected with work and that I could try for a 'Garden Plot' (not legally allowed to call them allotments because they're not via the council and it's on private land). Emailed to find out if there's one available. *crosses fingers and toes* :D

ETA: Oh yes, there's been various threads on keeping cash at home and getting cash out recently and I'm sure someone mentioned trying to get their maximum out of the machine at 11:59 and then again at 00.01 in order to get two days maximum withdrawal at once. Found out yesterday that doesn't work: I went to that London yesterday and at godawful o'clock in the morning on the way to the coach stop I got the maximum out and then tried again just after midnight on the way home. Second time didn't work - the maximum is presumably set to within a 24 hour period. I assume that if I went out again now, I'd be able to withdraw the maximum daily limit again. Just a heads up :)

Not me but I watched a YouTube video of someone hiding loo rolls and 60, yes 60 toothbrushes behind a bath panel in his house!?
